4 Questions You Should Be Ready to Answer as a Listing Agent

In the world of real estate, you’re not only selling homes, you’re selling your services. Remember that the opportunity to meet leads can surface at any time. You could receive a call off of your website out of the blue, or meet a potential client while waiting in line at the coffee shop! Are you on top of your game and ready to answer the following questions on a moment’s notice?

“What are the current market conditions?”

As a real estate expert, you should be up to date on current market conditions and local news affecting real estate in your area. Sellers will look to you for your expertise to aide them in deciding on the best time to list their home in order to get the most value. Besides the current condition of the economy, you should be familiar with other contributing factors such as the time of year and the development of certain areas of the city. If you’re serious about your career in real estate, take time on a regular basis to keep up with what’s going on. This is key in your success as a Realtor.

“What is my home worth?”

This is likely the most important information sellers will want to know. The best answer to this question is to let them know you’ll need to do your homework and get back to them. Be prepared to explain some of the factors taken into consideration when determining a list price. This will demonstrate your knowledge and give them an understanding of what goes into preparing a CMA. Sellers will appreciate receiving accurate and reliable information about the value of their home, and this provides you with a solid opportunity for follow up.

“How will you market my home?”

Great question!  Sellers want to know they are getting full exposure to increase their chances for getting top dollar for their home. Be ready to list both online and offline marketing efforts including social media, mailers, photography, signage and open houses. Be sure to mention your own website, your company’s site and any other popular sites you might post your listings on like Realtor.com. Have examples available whenever possible to showcase your professionalism and innovation.

“Why should I work with you?”

As a real estate agent, you’re going to have to be comfortable with tooting your own horn now and then!  Understand your strengths and highlight any additional training or accreditations you have received, along with other work experience you’ve had that make you a better agent.
