Working Here

Las Vegas is home to a variety of thriving industries. Many of our residents work in the gaming and hospitality industry for which we’re known the world over. Universities and colleges offer opportunities for those in academia, and a burgeoning technology sector Downtown presents employment options for those in leading-edge fields. Restaurant, retail, and construction jobs can be found as well.

Whether it’s the greatest bargain or the latest in high fashion, Las Vegas offers plenty for those who have a passion for shopping. Expansive malls are located throughout virtually every part of the Valley, and our marquee resorts offer unique high-end shopping opportunities with stores such as Tiffany & Co. and Prada as well.

City, Government and Surrounding Area

Most municipal and County facilities are located in the Downtown area of Las Vegas. The city is the Seat of Clark County, and the home of a Federal Courthouse.

Getting Around

Not surprisingly, Las Vegas is built for travel. McCarran International Airport welcomes thousands of travelers from around the world every day. The Las Vegas Valley is interconnected by Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 95. A convenient beltway surrounds the Valley. Public transportation includes a bus system that covers virtually the entire area.


The Las Vegas Valley is home to several hospitals, featuring specialists with a wide range of expertise. Urgent care clinics abound. University Medical Center is where you’ll find Nevada’s only Level I Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, as well as the state’s only Burn Center. The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is one of the nation’s foremost centers for advanced study and treatment of brain disorders. Its home is a facility designed by worldrenowned architect Frank Gehry.

Radio Stations

From Top 40 to rock to hip-hop to Latino and country, Las Vegas can tune you into the sounds you want to hear. We’re a major national radio market, so listeners here enjoy just about any kind of music – along with talk radio personalities and news stations, too.

Weather Information

Residents love Las Vegas for the sunny weather. In fact, we enjoy about 300 sunny days every year. Summers range in the upper 90s and low 100s with very low humidity. Winters are short and mild. It rains only four or five inches a year.

Learning and Education

Parents will fine a rich array of learning opportunities for their children, including public schools, private schools and charter schools. For those seeking higher degrees, the Las Vegas Valley is home to our state's flagship university, UNLV. College of Southern Nevada offers advanced degrees as well, with multiple campuses around the Valley. There's also a wide variety of professional and technical schools to be found.
